LilyPond ist ein Programm für den Notensatz, ein automatisiertes System für Druckgrafiken. Es produziert aus einer Beschreibungsdatei in Hochsprache schöne Notenblätter.

LilyPond unterstützt viele in der Musiknotation verwendete Konstrukte, einschließlich Akkord-Namen, Schlagzeug-Notation, Generalbass, verzierte Noten, Gitarrengriffschrift, moderne Notation (Cluster-Notation und rhythmische Gruppierung), Tremoli, (verschachtelte) Tuplets in beliebigen Verhältnissen und vieles mehr.

Die textbasierte Musik-Eingabesprache von LilyPond fügt sich nahtlos in LaTeX, HTML und Texinfo ein, so dass einzelne Notenblätter oder musikwissenschaftliche Abhandlungen innerhalb eines Quelltextes geschrieben werden können. Form und Inhalt sind voneinander getrennt und wegen der leistungsstarken automatischen Formatierung von LilyPond muss der Nutzer nicht über typografische Fachkompetenz verfügen, um eine gute Notation zu erstellen.

LilyPond produziert Druckausgaben in den Formaten PDF, PostScript, SVG, oder TeX sowie MIDI für den Hörgenuß. Die Oberflächen RoseGarden und NoteEdit exportieren das LilyPond-Format. Das Programm kann ABC, ETF und MIDI importieren.

LilyPond ist Teil des GNU-Projekts.

This package contains architecture-independent data files for LilyPond.

MuseScore is a free WYSIWYG music score typesetter for Linux, licenced under GNU GPL. Features:

GNU Denemo is a GUI musical score editor written in C/GTK+. It is intended primarily as a front end to GNU Lilypond, but is adaptable to other computer-music-related purposes as well.

Frescobaldi is a LilyPond sheet music editor, with the following features:

• Point-and-click support: click on notes or on error messages to jump to the corresponding position in the LilyPond file

Frescobaldi also includes the following music functions:

• Hyphenate lyrics using word-processor hyphenation dictionaries
• Add spanners, dynamics, articulation easily using the Quick Insert panel
• Update LilyPond syntax using convert-ly, with display of differences

In order to use lyric hyphenation, please install your languages' appropriate hyphenation packages, e.g. hyphen-fr for French, hyphen-ca for Catalan, etc.

Frescobaldi is the Qt4 successor of LilyKDE, a Kate plugin for KDE3.

NtEd ist ein Editor für Partituren auf Basis von GTK+. Er will wirkliches WYSIWYG sein: Was Sie auf dem Bildschirm sehen, entspricht genau der Druckausgabe. Unterstützt werden bis zu vier Stimmen pro Zeile, Trommelnoten, fünf Liedtextzeilen, N-Tuplets, Kontextwechsel, Wiederholungen mit Alternativen, konfigurierbare Musikinstrumente pro Zeile, Import von MIDI und MusicXML, Export von PS, PDF, SVG, PNG, Lilypond und MIDI. Partituren können mit dem ALSA-Sequenzer abgespielt werden.

Die Qt-Anwendung Rosegarden bietet unter anderem die folgenden Möglichkeiten: gemischter Audio-/MIDI-Synthesizer (für Wiedergabe und Aufnahme), Mehrspur-Editor, Musik lässt sich per Klaviertastatur oder Noten eingeben, Ein-/Ausgabe von MIDI-Dateien, Export von Lilypond- und CSound-Dateien.
